The old neighborhood of Luxembourg
There is no better place to start exploring the beautiful city of Luxembourg - often mentioned locally as simply "d'Astad" - except in its historical neighborhood.Designated as a site of the UNESCO World Heritage in 1994, the old fortifications of the city have secured their place as one of the most important cities in Europe. In the next was so inexpugible, it was nicknamed the "northern Gibraltar" and, although the original fortress was disassembled between 1867 and 1883, its impact on the Elder.The old fortifications have given the place of beautifully arranged parks and gardens, while its cobbled streets are lined with old charming houses and buildings.It is a wonderful place to spend a few hours exploring while crossing its many bridges - including the spectacular Adolphe bridge, considered a landmark - and cross its many alley, preferably without a map (simply follow your nose and see where you arrive!the excellent parking and ride facilities of the city.Better, get by train and book a stay in a hotel in the old neighborhood.
