Argostoli

Image 1 of 10

On a peninsula on the southwest coast of Cephalonia is the capital Argostóli.Although its history is prior to the 1950s, the old city was almost completely destroyed in an earthquake of 1953 and was rebuilt in a modern style, following the plan of the original city.As a result, today is a picturesque place, with a promenade on the seafront, lined with palm trees, where local fishing boats are anchored. While you are in the city, check the small archaeological museum, which presents discoveries from the Micenian, Hellenistic and Roman periods.
