with charming turquoise and blue waters, white gravel beaches and pine limestone, cut by lush and green fertile valleys, Cephalonia (Cephalonia) is the largest and one of the most beautiful of the Ionic islands of Greece
About
In the anterior millennium, the island depended primarily on agriculture, but following the 2001 Captain’s Mandolin movie, based on Louis de Bernieres’s book and in which Penelope Cruz and Nicholas Cage plays, tourism has become more and more important.
Almost all the cities and villages of the island were devastated by a terrible earthquake in 1953, so there is little architecture of historical interest, with a notable exception: somehow the village of Fiskardo survived the large -scale destruction. However, there are still a lot of beautiful places to visit on Kefalonia. The airport is nine miles south of Argostoli, which is the capital of the island.
