About

Although it is a small country – it covers less than 1,650 square kilometers and has a population of just over 600,000 – Luxembourg (or entirely, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) offers a considerable diversity. While many of the country’s top attractions and points of interest are in the vibrant Luxembourg (Stad Lëtzebuerg in Luxembourg), whose ancient neighborhood was designated UNESCO World Heritage, the numerous small cities in Luxembourg are wonderful and deserve explored.

Luxurgiene Ardennes

Image 11 of 20

Located in a strong contrast with the quite flat landscape around Luxembourg, Ardennes is the place where you will find high wooded plateaus, pure rocks, wooded hills and hidden valleys, as well as countless impressive views. The area - famous as the place where Hitler organized its last major campaign in World War II - is proud of numerous castles, forts and fortified farms that rise from the tops of the hills. There is also the Bulge Battle Museum in Wiltz Castle. While the village is in the middle of a deep and narrow valley near the Clerve river, its Benedictine Monastery St. Maurice and St. Moor (also known as the Clervaux Abbey) was built in 1910 in Romanesque-Burgundian style and dominates the valley.Visitors here can enjoy exhibits related to the monastic life, as well as the Gregorian masses.
