Matthias Church (Church of the Virgin Mary)

The Matthias Church, also known as the Church of the Virgin Mary (Nagyboldogasszony-Templom), is a prominent landmark on Castle Hill.It was completed in 1269, and its Southern Magnificent door with its relief depicting Maria's death was added in the 1300s.It was the scene of several historical events, including the coronation of King Carol I of Hungary in 1309 and the coronation of Emperor Franz I of Austria and his consort Elizabeth (Sissy) as leaders of Hungary.For this event, Franz Liszt composed its coronation table.It is also worth verified, the Museum of Ecclesiastical Art is located on the medi crypt of the church and offers a collection of sacred relics, stone sculptures and replicas of the Hungarian crown jewelry.
