Revolution Square (Memorial José Martí)

Image 13 of 13

Plaza from Revolución (Revolution Square), formerly Plaza Civica before the Revolution, deserves a short stop because of its historical significance.During a 1998 Cuba visit, Pope John Paul II celebrated the Liturgy in this famous market and over one million people gathered here for Castro's speeches. In view of the market is the José Martí Memorial, with a 109-meter gray tower and a white marble statue of the national Cuban hero. You can browse the little museum here or take the elevator to the tower for panoramic views of the city.
