Village of Tara Zebbug, Maltei Island

Image 10 of 14

This rich village has a history dating from 1436. The great master of Rohan raised Zebbug in a city, renamed Citta Rohan, and built the triumphal arch at the entrance to the city.Along the historical streets on Saint-Anthony street and in the hospital market there are many beautiful old houses, some date from the sixteenth century. The main market is decorated by the parish church of St. Filip, founded in 1599. The initial design was created by Cassars, the architect of the Saint-John Co-Cadrara.This church, especially the facade, is even more adorned than the co-category of Saint John. The exterior has two towers and two twin domes on both sides, and the interior is luxurious.Zebbug celebrates its religious festival in Saint Philip annually at the parish church on the second Sunday in June.
