Prehistoric tarxien temples, insula Maltei

The Tarxien Temple is the largest and best preserved prehistoric cult place in Malta, consisting of four megalithic structures.Expulted in 1914, the site covers an area of 5,400 square meters and displays the artistic achievements of the mysterious prehistoric culture of Malta during the "temple period" (late Neolithic period) between 3600 BC.and 2500 BC Rolls and sculptures that were found here are represented on the site of excellent reproductions, the originals being displayed in the National Archeology Museum in Valletta.
