Located one hour to the south-east of Anchorage, this animal sanctuary adopts a wounded or orphaned wild life in the Alaska area, sometimes giving it a permanent place of residence.Guests can visit resident animals and 200 acres of spacious habitat throughout the year, allowing superior views of bions, bears, mosses, owls, elan, vultures, wolves and laughter.This non-profit organization strives to study these animals and educate the public about the wild life in Alaska and, according to variety of courses, programs and trips.For anyone who wants to add their conservation efforts, the Alaska Wild Life Conservation Center has many volunteering opportunities.
In this museum are exhibited reconstituted vintage aircraft, photos and other related memoons, which honor the aviation pioneers in Alaska.The best of all, the museum is located on the seafront Lake Hood, close to the busiest hydroevement in the world Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.The aircraft on the display are in different repairs, some being just a frame.Patrons can see that some of these vintage planes return to life in restoration hanger.Following take off and landings on the Hood Lake near the retired control tower, completely with a live radio feed, it is also a fun part of any visit.
A prosperous city of gold and railway exploitation until the 1930s, Girdwood is now finding its wealth - especially Alyeska Resort.After my closure left the community a ghost virtual city and then the devastating blow of the 1964 earthquake, Girdwood moved inside the country.Today, the city is primarily a recreation area and is known as one of the prime minister of ski resorts in Alaska.In addition to extensive snow sports and many things to do in summer, the eclectic city offers fun places to eat, buy and get a community taste.
Anchorage began at the beginning of the twentieth century as a tent city to support the construction of the Alaska railway.After President Warren G. Harding led the gold spike in the ground in 1923, the railway suffered an inheritance related to the efforts of World War II, colossal earthquakes and a tumultuous economy.Today, the railway in Alaska is owned by the state and offers dozens of passenger and event trains while hosting more than half a million passengers each year.
Zoo Alaska is a unit of 25 hectares with a variety of wild native species, including brown bears, wolves, musk ox, Dall and reindeer.This tourist attraction from Anchorage also has a small collection of exotic animals, including Amur Tigers and Bactrian cameles.The zoo offers a wide range of special events and meetings, including zoo and opportunities to help wolf food.Visitors can combine a trip to the facility, which is located southeast of the city center, with the Seward Highway.
