Alcudia's old town

Surrounded by lush vegetation and pine forests, Alcúdia is one of the most picturesque cities in Mallorca.This medi city with wonderfully preserved walls is also known for its interesting historical monuments, delicious cuisine and traditional festivals. N Norașul is at a great distance and was fortified to protect against pirates that were a danger during the Middle Ages.Of the old Meterese, only the Gates Xara and Palma and the Bastion of the Renaissance era of Sant Ferran remain.Alcúdia has a distinct ambience of the old world, with medi streets and palace Renaissance houses. The important bishops include Santa Ana and Sant Jaume and the Baroque chapel of Sant Crist with an image of Christ from the fifteenth century.Alcúdia also has archaeological sites, because the city was built on the site of an old Roman settlement.Remnants of Roman houses, a forum and an amphitheater are south of the Sant Jaume Church.For those who enjoy the observation of birds, the natural park at the bay albimea attracts over two hundred species of birds throughout the year.A popular destination near the coast is Puerto Alcudia resort, with sandy beach, elegant promenade on the coast and restaurant.
