Trip to the island of Curieuse

Image 8 of 15

Once known as Rouge, thanks to his reddish earth, the island of Curieuse is now at a breeding program for huge turtles, which were freely traveling around the sandy bays.Curieuse is the only place other than Praslin, where the palm of Coco de Mer grows naturally. The island was also once a colony of lepers and you can explore the ruins of the lepers on the southern shore, as well as the doctor's house, a national monument. Most of the island is covered with Takamaka and Casuarina trees, which overshadow the beaches with white sand. The island of Curieuse is accessible with boat trips on the island of Praslin.
