The Fahidi neighborhood (previously known, and sometimes called the Bastakia district) was built at the end of the 19th century to be the house of rich Persian merchants who were mainly pearls and textiles and were lured in Dubai-free trading and access to Dubai Creek.Corals and limestone from here, many with walls covered with wind towers, were excellent.Persian merchants have probably transplanted this architectural element (ordinary in the Iranian coastal houses) from their native country in the bay.Arabic and furniture (hosted in a wind tower) and Serkal Cultural Foundation, with a store, cafe and rotary art exhibitions (located in a single of the historical buildings).
